Custom Crops Rocks! (and a couple of cards thrown in)

I have never ordered any of my scrapbooking things on line.  To be honest, I have not ordered many things at all on line.  But I really wanted the stamps from My Pink Stamper and just kept looking at them at Custom Crops as well as a couple of cartridges that were not available in my area.  On Valentine's Day (February 14, 2010) my wonderful hubby said to go ahead and order them.  If I had to pay too much in shipping or if I ended up paying duties, etc. then we would know not to order over the internet again.  Custom Crops was awesome.  I could track the progress of my order at all times and I received an e-mail on Friday, February 19, 2010, that my order had shipped.  I thought how great that was and figured my package would arrive in a couple of weeks.  Fast forward to today....Tuesday, February 23, 2010....I received the call from the mail carrier that he had a package for Heather and I took the elevator downstairs to pick it up, wondering all the while what it could possibly be.  To my utter shock and amazement, the label was from Custom Crops.  From order date to delivery date 10 days.  And just to satisfy everyone who is curious, here is a picture of the things I purchased.  And here is a link ot Custom Crop's website for anyone who would like to order from them;

One of the girls I work with just got a promotion and is leaving our store.  I made her this card over the weekend.  The dog is from the Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge and the stamp is from Michaels.  Patterned paper is by Creative Memories.

This is a card that I made for another girl at work obviously "Just because".  The flower is from Life is a Beach Cricut Cartridge, stamp again is from Michaels and the patterend paper is by My Mind's Eye.  I also used orange stickles for the middle of the flower.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I am working on some scrapbooking layouts and hope to post them here by the weekend.  I hope everyone is having a great day.

I'm Still Creating...I Promise!

It has been a week since I have posted anything on this blog.  I am still working on a few projects and hope to have them completed by the end of the weekend to post.

In the meantime, life has gotten in the way, you know, those nasty chores such as laundry and cleaning the apartment, which seem to take up way more of my time than I want them to.  But I guess it feels good to accomplish them.  Just wish you didn't have to do them again and again......sigh!

The other thing that happened is that I ran out of adhesive just when I was on a roll.  GASP!!!  How could any scrapbooker/card maker run out of adhesive?  Both tape runners, my Xyron 150X...you get the picture.  I did have glue left but decided that it was not really a safe thing to use but I sure wanted to.  This led me to look into buying a small ATG gun as I think it would be hard to run out of the length of tape on one of those and since you buy the refills in bulk I would always have one on hand.  Not in the budget at the moment, but one can only dream.

Alright, the laundry is calling me as the pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Have a good day!

Valentine's Day Surprises

This "Hallmark" holiday has never been one of my favourites and so I don't do as much as I do for other holidays.  But this year I used my Cricut and my doodlecharm cartridge to make quick treat bags for my family.  I will put them out at dinner one day over the weekend.

I bought red bags at Michaels and cut out a scalloped brown heart at 2 1/4" and a pink heart at 2".  I layered them together and stamped with  chocolate stamp pad from CTMH using a Michaels $1.50 stamp.  I filled the bags with a few treats and then folded them over and punched holes in which I placed a ribbon.  I think they turned out cute.

This is the only card that I made for Valentine's Day.  I used the Wild Card cricut cartridge to make the heart card and used the layer feature for the 2 other large hearts.  I threaded red ribbon through all the tiny holes and then tied the ends into a bow.  The dangling heart is made with a Creative Memories punch and is attached with embroidery floss.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day!!

Scrapfest Here We Come!

I am pretty excited about the weekend of April 16th and 17th.  I am going to be spending it with one of my favourite people in the whole world doing one of my favourite things.....I am going to scrapfest with my Mom and then we will probably spend some time scrapbooking at her place (Neither of us accomplish much with many people cropping together so we didn't sign up for the big crop going on there!)  If anyone is interested in attending Scrapfest, here is the link:

And since I am sharing about my Mom I thought I would include a recent pic of the two of us together from Christmas.  She's one of my best friends and I wouldn't have it any other way!  Love you, Mom!!!

Simple Cards

Below are a couple of very simple cards that I made this week using the same formula, just different colours and patterns for two very different occassions.

This card is for my Mom to give to friends who are moving into a new house.  She saw the stamp the other day when visiting me and asked if I would make her a card with it.  I used scraps of Basic Grey Gypsy papers and other supplies from my stash.  Stamp is from Michaels $1.50 bin and the heart is filled with red stickles.  Hope you like it. Mom!

This card is for my nephew using the same layout as the card above just different papers from my stash.  This stamp is also from Michaels :)  I used my watercolour pencils and blending pen to colour it.

Thanks for stopping by.  Feel free to leave comments.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Mine is so busy I am sure I won't have time for any crafting but I am going to enjoy my time visiting with family and friends.

Check Out the Blogs

I have just added buttons of three of my favourite blogs.  If you need inspiration or want to start cardmaking and scrapbooking they are great resources.  I am sure there are plenty more out there as well and more than likely I will be adding many as I continue to search for new and innovative ideas to craft.

Hope everyone has a good day.  I will post a couple of cards I made last night a bit later today.

Weekend Challenges

As promised here are photos of the projects that I completed for challenges on one of the blogs that I follow The Pink Stamper.

This was the first challenge....to create a project using black and your favourite colour. Anyone who knows me knows my fav colour is pink. I used my Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge to make the dragon fly. The wings are vellum with pink gem accents. And I even did the inside as well.

This was created for challenge #3....a tag. And we were challenged to make a tag along with something to give away. I am going to attach this to something I bake as a thank you to a friend who did us a favour this weekend. He is a die hard Green Bay Packer fan. This was created using the Creative Memories tag maker
and Sizzlets "Rat-a-tat" letters.

Sunday challenge was to make a card and actually get it ready to mail. So this is off and running, posted yesterday. I used my Cricut Wild Card cartridge that I received for Christmas for the card, a stamp from Michaels and some flowers from my stash.

The second challenge was to make something springy/summery. I have been struggling with some Spring pictures I took last year, trying to make a scrapbook page. Needless to say, I am still working on it.

Thanks for stopping by.

My Creative Space

The very first thing I want to share is my creative space. This is the room in my apartment where I can spend countless hours working on projects, sometimes to the dismay of my family as I lose all track of time. Someday I would actually like to paint the room pink but for now I will settle for the white furniture with the pink and brown accents. Notice the pink TV.....this was a Toys R Us find on sale for a great price. Usually there is a "chick flick" playing in the background as I create.

This is the way the desk opens and is where I store a few things including my Cricut. Because the room is fairly small I have to make the best of the space I actually have.

This is one of my favourite things in my craft room. It is obviously a place where all of my ribbon is stored. But the fact that my father made it for me as a birthday present makes it extra special.
Alright, off to be creative as I have a special
request for a card.....
