"1 Month til Christmas" Blog Hop

Welcome to our monthly blog hop.  Yes, you read the title correctly....1 month today is Christmas.  When we started this hop in February it seemed like such a long time until Christmas and it is almost here.  Time flies!!!  I am the first on our hop today.  The reason my BFF Shari and I started this small blog hop was so that we could get some Christmas cards ready without the pressure December brings.  A few other talented ladies joined us and we have been showcasing two cards each month ~ 1 using a die cut of some sort and 1 using a colouring medium.  This month we have changed that up a bit and we all have 2 Christmas projects to showcase ~ anything goes.

For my first project, I have made 2 cards using the same technique.  I got the instructions from an email sent by a friend of mine who sells Stampin Up but used the supplies I had on hand.  They are cards that "glow".

A whimsical version:

RECIPE:

Card stock and vellum ~ Recollections
Stamps ~ Recollections
~ Michaels $1.50 bin
Embossing Powder ~ Stampendous White
~ Gelly Powder Santa's Candy Cane Scented (it is so old there is no smell anymore)
Spellbinders ~ Nestabilities Wonky Rectangles
Ribbon, bling ~"Use it Up' Inventory"

A classic version:

RECIPE:

Card stock and vellum ~ Recollections
Stamps ~ Recollections
Embossing Powder ~ Stampendous Detail Silver
Spellbinders ~ Nestabilities Labels Eight
Buttons, ribbon ~ Dollar Store

and this is what makes them glow...a flameless tealight in behind the vellum cutout.

For my next project I made something just for me.  Last year I made some glittered Christmas ornaments for family and friends but never made any for myself.  I bought these cute little heart glass ornaments on Clearance last year and made 2 sets for myself ~ one is for my main tree of burgundy and gold and the other set of pink is for my craft room.  I used Cricut vinyl to cut out the monograms ~ one set of "A"s for our surname and one set of "P"s for Princess' Paper Projects (my business and blog name).

RECIPE:

Glass ornaments ~ Michaels
Beacon Glitter It
Recollections Glitter ~ Gold, Garnet, Raspberry, Blush
Cricut Black Vinyl
Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge font
Ribbons ~ Michaels

Thanks for dropping by today.  Your next stop on the hop is my BFF, Shari.  The complete list is at the end of my post.  Have a great weekend and "Merry Christmas".

Elf Tag

Good morning.  Have you ever heard of an "Elf on a Shelf"?  Well, he is a little friend who comes to visit prior to Christmas and spends time watching if you are naughty or nice and reports back to Santa every night.  You may not touch your elf but you must name him in order for him to become magic.  My niece has an elf whose name is Peter and he has been known to be in many different places in the morning after his nightly trip to the North Pole.  Here are a few of them:

And he was my inspiration for this cute little tag I made to put on a present.  It was quick and easy with a premade tag.

and a close up of the elf:

This has been an extremely busy week for me as I work retail and of course, it is our busiest season.  But I will be back with some more Christmas projects I have been working on.  And don't forget to join me tomorrow for our "1 Month til Christmas" blog hop.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Take some time for yourself this weekend and enjoy.  I know I am going to.

Until next time,

Paper Playtime Challenge #88 ~ Autumn Colours

Good Monday morning again, my friends.  Wow, that was a fast week.  Did you get a chance to enter the quick one week "Anything Goes" challenge?  If not, today is a new challenge at Paper Playtime.  It is the first Monday of the month and it is a challenge to use Autumn colours and a die cut of some sort.  Our sponsor for this two week challenge is none other than my friend Theresa, The Scrapbooking Queen who is giving the winner a set of 4 Action Wobbles.  Whoo hoo!!!

I decided to do something a little different for this challenge.  Autumn is one of my fave times of year with all the pretty leaves and wonderful colours.  I tend to take lots of scenery pictures at this time of year and have made a scrapbook layout where I can display some of my special ones.  It is a 12" x 12" double page layout and can hold either a 5" x 7" and two 4" x 6" pictures or any combination that will fit on the photo mats.

Right side:

 Close up of Title:

Technically because I live in Canada we use the British spelling of colours but since this was a cut already on the cartridge I guess it will have to do.

Close up of Leaf  Bundles to show dimension:

After cutting out both layers of the leaves and gluing them together I ran them through a crimper to give them some texture.

RECIPE:

Card stock ~ Recollections, The Paper Factory
Patterned Paper ~ Creative Memories
Cricut ~ Simply Scarecrow
~ title cut at 3 1/2"
~ leaves cut at 3 1/2". 4"
Punches ~ EK Success
~ Martha Stewart
All My Memories Paper Stain ~ Chocolate
Crimper
Rhinestones ~ Recollections

Thank you for coming by today.  Please join us at Paper Playtime and show us your projects using Autumn colours and die cuts.  You have until noon Thursday, November 15, 20012 to enter.

Have a wonderful day!
