"MONSTER" Birthday Cake

Good Monday morning.  I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend.  I know I did.  Well, as I said, I have the cake I made for my son to show you today.  I am quite proud of it and even my ex-husband who was at my son's when I got there said it was great.  A little background ~ Andrew's favourite colour is lime green and has been for a while.  He also enjoys Monster Energy drinks which have a lime green logo.  And flowers sure aren't his thing like on a store bought cake so this was the result:

Black icing wasn't as hard to make as I thought.  I used chocolate icing as my base and just added black Wilton food gel. Andrew loved it!!  And, he liked the card too :)

And, for all of you who are interested, here is how big my grandson is getting.  He is almost 8 months old.

As always, thanks for coming by.  Have a GREAT Monday!  Stay tuned for a new challenge later on this week for One Crazy Stamper.  And you still have two days to enter our current black, white + 1 more colour challenge.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Good Saturday morning, my friends.  It is my turn for a post at Action Wobbles and the card I have uses my new fave cartridge and of course, an action wobble.  What has the weather been like where you are?  Here in my part of Canada we have been having some pretty strange days ~ raining, snowing, hailing, thunderstorming with a few nice days thrown in so we won't forget that the Spring will arrive and the trees and flowers will bloom.

Inside:

RECIPE:
Card stock ~ Recollections
Patterned Paper ~ from my scraps
Cricut ~ Teddy Bear Parade
Cuttlebug ~ Divine Swirls Embossing Folder
Sentiments ~ Michaels $1.50 bin (outside)
~ CARDZ TV "Think Spring" (inside)
Twine ~ We R Memory Keepers
Punches ~ EK Success
Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
Glossy Accents
Flowers ~ Prima
Kaisercraft Silver Rhinestones
Action Wobble ~ TSQ Royal Castle Shoppe

If you have never tried an action wobble, you may find that they are addicting and you might want to make all of your cards wobble :)

So, thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  And, for those of you who are waiting for me to show you the cake I made for my son's birthday, I got called in to work early so it will be posted Monday now.

"8 Months til Christmas" Blog Hop

Welcome to our monthly countdown to Christmas.  If you arrived from my talented bff, Shari, then you are in the correct place.  If you just happened to stop by my blog today, you may want to go there so you don't miss a single one of these incredible stops.  I will have a list at the end of my post in case you need to find your way.

Each month on the 25th a group of talented ladies and myself share two Christmas projects to get you inspired to get a head start on your own Christmas projects.  I have a confession to make for today ~ it is 11:40 and our posts are supposed to go live at midnight EST.  Yep, not gonna happen.  I do not know why I procrastinated so baldy this month but I do have two cards to show you using our current theme ~ animals.  The pictures aren't that great as I took them late at night with artificial lighting.  And the inside of the cards still needs to be done.  Oh well, there is always tomorrow...or more accurately, later today now!

My first card is similar to a card I created last month.  I have a great niece and 2 great nephews that I thought would love these bear cards so I am going to make 3 different types to give to them.  Here is my second one, a Santa bear:

RECIPE:
Card stock ~ Recollections
Patterned Paper ~ DCWV Christmas Stack
Cricut Cartridges ~ Teddy Bear Parade
~ Wild Card
~ Accent Essentials
Sentiment ~ Michaels $1.50 bin
Bic Markers
Punch ~ Fiskars
Colorbox Chalk Ink ~ Lipstick Red
~ Warm Green
Stickles ~ Diamond
Stampendous Crystal Snow

My second card uses an image from House Mouse.  I guess some people would not call a mouse an animal but a rodent but they are in the mammal family so they fit the bill.

RECIPE:
Card stock ~ Bazzill and Recollections
Patterned Paper ~ MME Merry
Image ~ House Mouse "Foot Loose and Fancy Free"
Copic markers
Spellbinders ~ Nestabilities Labels Nine
Sentiment ~ Michaels $1.50 bin
Stampendous Embossing Powder ~ Opaque White
Colorbox chalk ~ Pastel Pink
Glossy Accents
Sakura White Gel Pen
Sakura Clear Glaze Pen
Jewels ~ Imaginescence
Ribbon ~ "Use It Up" inventory

Here is where I would usually have a close up of the image but not tonight ~ I may add it later today but the Copic colours I used were ~ B00, B01, C5, C7, E13, E15, E17, E40, E42, E43, G03, G05, G07, R20, R22, RV32, RV34, YG93, YG95, YG97, W1, W3, W5

Our hop order is:
Heather (You are HERE!)

Thank you so much for coming by today.  I hope you have enjoyed my Christmas projects as well as those of my talented DT sisters.  I promise I will be more organized next month :)

Now off to bed for me.  See you in the morning.

Retail Therapy ~ Paper Playtime Challenge #8

Good morning, my friends.  Well, the weekend is over and it is time to start another week.....boo!!!  But the good news is that it is also a Monday where there is a new challenge at the Paper Playtime blog.  Our challenge for the next two weeks is "Use More Than 1 Fold".  Now this could be on a card, an embellishment for a scrapbooking layout or a mini album just to name a few ~ anything that incorporates more than just the traditional fold.  If you follow my blog, you know that I posted a card the other day (HERE) also with more than one fold.  And, yet again, I have tried something new ~ a box card.  This would be perfect to place a gift card to a store in for a birthday girl :) The original tutorial I watched to create this card may be found HERE and can I tell you I had some pretty wonky looking boxes to start with.  I found that the secret is to making the diagonal score lines correctly.  I also do not have the diagonal scoring adapter so check out THIS VIDEO to see how to do the folds.  And, voila:

Good day, my friends.  On Saturday, my friend and owner of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps had an on line party at her Facebook page.  She has these every so often and they are so much fun, just chatting and getting to know the Krafty design girls and fans.  You can go like the fan page HERE because there is another one coming up on Sunday (April new release party!) and you won't want to miss it!  This last one on Saturday incorporated some challenges and we had a week to complete them.  There were 6 challenges in all and I have 2 cards to show you today for 2 of them.  I have started a couple more but we will see how time permits if I get them finished and posted by the deadline.
