"5 Months Til Christmas" Blog Hop

Good Morning.  Can you believe what the title of this post says?  Yes, five months today is Christmas....hard to imagine with this wonderful Summer weather we are having.  But it will be here soon enough.  Welcome to our monthly blog hop where myself, my BFF and a number of incredibly talented ladies make 2 projects on the 25th of each month during the year in order to take some of the pressure off in December to get things done.  If you have come from Shari's blog you are in the right place.  If not, you may want to hop on over there to start at the beginning.  I will have the complete order at the end of this post.

Our theme for this month is "Non Traditional Christmas Colours" ~ to me that meant anything but red, white and green, with a little gold and silver thrown in.  So you will not see these colours on my cards this month....well, I guess there is a shade of green but not the usual shade for Christmas.

My first card is also non-traditional in the sense that my little girl is standing on grass with a clear blue sky.  It is hard to imagine Christmas without the Winter season that goes along with it in Canada but there are many countries that are celebrating December 25th in the Summer.

My second card uses a number of stamps and dies from Your Next Stamp to create a more Winter traditional scene.  But I still used the pinks and blues to make it non traditional.

Pretty As A Picture!

Good Morning and welcome to another "Wonderful Wednesday", my day to post for One Crazy Stamper.  Since we last visited a week ago, it has cooled down tremendously and I am enjoying life more.  I had an amazing weekend and hope to share details about something I crossed off my bucket list as soon as my friend sends me the photos.

The card I made today uses an older but new to me stamp from the My Favorite Things "Pure Innocence" line.  There are many to choose from in this line and she is perfect to paper piece like I did. Her dress, boots and the picture frame are all paper pieced.

Beach Babe

Good Morning and welcome to another Wonderful Wednesday where I post here and at One Crazy Stamper,  It seems like the weeks are getting shorter and Wednesday seems to sneak up on me more and more.

I am not sure what the weather is like where you are but here in Southern Ontario it is HOT and I mean HOT (the humidex is awful....it is like walking into a brick wall of humidity). Our little air conditioner and fans are just not keeping up. And this card that I made today makes me feel cooler and takes me to a place I would much rather be. I used a new image from the Your Next Stamp Darlin' Diva Collection.

Red Hat Girl

Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday, my day to post at One Crazy Stamper.  Two things inspired the card I have to show you today ~ 1) I have a birthday coming up this weekend (on which I have to work an 8 hr day.....you think I would have thought to book it off....LOL!) and 2) the stamp from the new line of My Besties looked like a red hat lady.  I did a little research about the Red Hat Society and this is what I found:

The founder of the Society is artist Sue Ellen Cooper, who lives in Fullerton, Orange County, California. In 1997, Cooper gave a friend a 55th birthday gift consisting of a red bowler purchased at an antique store along with a copy of Jenny Joseph's poem "Warning". The opening lines of the poem read:

"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me."

Originally, the society was open to women over 50 (in which category I fit) but is now open to women of all ages.  It was interesting to find out facts about how and why it started and what they do.

Here is the card that my research inspired:

Birthday Tag ~ Paper Playtime Challenge #14

Good Morning.  How was your weekend?  Mine was good. I worked part of it but managed to get in a bbq, a swim, church and a bit of crafting time as well.  Not too bad for a Summer weekend.  But today is Monday and that means the weekend is over but it also means a new challenge at Paper Playtime.  For the next two weeks, our challenge to you is "TAGS, TAGS, TAGS!" ~ make a tag or a project that incorporates a tag on it.

FRONT:

BACK:

The tag was cut with my Cricut from an old acrylic packaging I had been saving.  The Cricut actually just scored the outline even though I cut it on multi cut so I just went over it with a pair of scissors to get the tag.  I painted around the edges with pink acrylic paint and then embellished both front and back.  I must admit that I saw a similar tag on Pinterest so this is not an original idea of mine.  And it was hard to get a good photograph as, of course, the tag is "see through"

RECIPE:
Cricut ~ Very Merry Tags
~ Accent Essentials
Paint ~ Americana Poodle Skirt Pink
Cuttlebug ~ Baby's Breath Embossing Folder
Image ~ Your Next Stamp Mini Cupcake Cutie Fhionna
Copic Markers
Sentiment ~ My Pink Stamper Everyday Occasions
Circle Punch ~ Marvy
Prisma Chalk Edger ~ Teal Damask
Twine ~ American Crafts
Flower ~ Michaels $1.50 bin
Ribbon ~ "Use It Up" Inventory

A close up of the image:

Copics Used: Skin ~ E00, E02, E11, R20; Hair ~ E35,Y21, YR23; Clothes ~ BG11, BG13, RV32,
RV34; Cupcake ~ BV02, BV04, E40, E43, E44, E47, Y15

I am glad you were able to visit today and I hope to "see" you again soon.  Please join us at Paper Playtime and show us your tag projects for your chance to win a set of CARDZ TV stamps.  I am looking forward to seeing your creations.

Until next time, keep crafting and enjoy your day.

Happy Canada Day....and a New Challenge at OCS

Good day, my friends.  I just want to wish all my fellow Canadian friends a "Happy Canada Day!"  It is a long weekend here and we are all hopefully enjoying some relaxing time with family, friends, food and fireworks.  It is also the last day of my vacation on which I have had an amazing time but back to the grind tomorrow.

Today, being the first of the month of July, is also a new challenge at One Crazy Stamper.  The challenge is to use the colour KRAFT on a project.  All the details can be found on the blog.

For my project I decided I wanted to try to colour on kraft paper.  I have seen it done before and liked the way it turned out but wasn't really sure I could use my Copic markers on card stock that was not Copic.I gave it a try.  I learned that the colours don't blend quite as well and that some colours do not show up at all.  The colours are also altered a bit from what they would look like on white.  But all in all, a good attempt:
