A Taste of Spring

Hello my crafty friends.  Today is the first day of Spring and guess what it is doing outside my window?  SNOWING!!!  Very fine and not sticking around, but yes, there is white snow falling from the sky.  Up until two days ago, my wonderful hubby was blaming me for all the snow we have had.  I had THIS on our front door (Link is to a snow wreath I made last year).  So I got crafty on Monday and now this sits on our front door:

I wanted something bright and Spring-like and that is what this is for sure.  I bought a 12" metal wreath form and wound the mesh through each section about 9 times.  It took me a lot longer than I expected and became a lot larger in the process than my original plan but I like the results.  Added a few bunches of flowers here and there as that was all it seemed to need.  And, viola, a pretty pink wreath!

Happy Spring y'all!  Someday soon the weather should co-operate too :)

Kard Klass at Kraftin' Kimmie's Krafty Kave

Hello all!  Do you think I have enough "K"'s in the above title?  :)  To sum my day up in one word:krazy.  It was a krazy awesome time.  My friend Kim Reid, owner of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps offers a card class usually about once a month and I was lucky enough to be able to participate on Saturday.  Since I do not drive, my first adventure was getting there.  My hubby and I got lost and had to call twice before we found her gorgeous house.  Thanks to Al, Kim's husband, for the directions that Yahoo Maps did not have precise enough.  I was about a half hour late.  Kim offered us all different flavoured coffee and I got to try Cherry Chip Swirl.  It was yummy.  We made 4 cards using 2 older stamps and 2 new stamps.  Kim had each image stamped and all the card pieces cut for us so we had to colour our images with Copics and put together our cards.  Many new techniques I had never tried before were used on the cards.  I enjoyed using the chalk pastel pencils for extra shading and hope to practice this technique on my cards in the future.  It really adds new dimension.

And here they are in the order we made them:

1.

2.

3.

4.

And did I tell you that Kim lives only about a half hour away from my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren?  Guess where I got to go and whom I got to see afterwards?  And we even spent the night.  To reiterate, a krazy awesome day!!!!!

Thanks for coming by again.  Hope to see you soon.

Pause, Dream, Enjoy Linky Party #5 ~ Use a Sketch

Good Morning.  It is time to start another linky party over at Pause, Dream, Enjoy.  It is to follow a sketch from any source.  I enjoyed this one a lot as I am always looking for a great sketch challenge to try especially now when my crafting mojo has left the building.  I looked at many new sights and decided to try the sketch found HERE at "Just Us Girls".

The motivation for the card design is that I want Spring.  I am so done with snow and cold and sitting here in -20C with a hefty windchill as well made me want to produce a bright, sunny, cheerful card to remind me that Spring will have to come eventually.

RECIPE:
Copic Xpress It Card Stock
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Image ~ Your Next Stamp "Flower Bouquet Fhiona"
Copic Markers
Card Stock ~ Recollections
Patterned Paper ~ MME "Dolled Up"
Sentiment ~ CARDZ TV "Think Spring"
Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
Twine ~ We R Memory Keepers
Stickles ~ Crystal
Glossy Accents
Flower, Button ~ "Use It Up" Inventory

Thanks for dropping in today.  Please join us and link up your sketches at Pause, Dream, Enjoy under the Linky Party tab.  I would like to enter my card into Just Us Girls Sketch #230 Challenge.

I had a wonderful weekend off and I actually am looking forward to sharing what I did later on this week, I promise. So, see you soon.
