My Olympic Gold

Good morning, crafty peeps.  I hope you are doing well and enjoying the last remaining weeks of Summer.  Now that the Olympics are behind us, I am having withdrawals because there is absolutely nothing worth watching on TV ~ and I don't watch a lot of TV anyhow.  But I had a goal while the Olympics were on and it was to finish an afghan I started almost 2 1/2 years ago ~ yep, you read that correctly ~ 2 1/2 years.  I started to knit this afghan which was done all in one piece (239 stitches total) on December 27, 2009.  The reason I remember the exact date was because we got the yarn on my anniversary :)   I have done a few projects in between but have always gone back to the afghan and it was almost done at the start of the Olympics.  And, I can proudly say that it is finished, ends all tied in and gracing the chair in my living room.  It was finished last Thursday evening.

A close up of the pattern:

And my hubby cuddled under it:

He was happy with the size because it covered him all and was extremely cozy.  Don't think he really needed it in this weather but he loves his blankets. The pattern was called "Basket Weave Afghan", a freebie from the yarn section at Michaels. The yarn I used for this was Loops & Threads Impeccable worsted weight available only at Michaels.  The colours were Summerset Ombre and Rouge, although to me it is more of an orange than a red.

Thanks for dropping in today.  Just a couple of things before you go:
1)  Thanks to Sassy Studio Designs for featuring my altered notebook on Saturday.  I am very honoured by that.
and
2) Don't forget about our "4 Months 'til Christmas" Blog Hop on the 25th of August.  Come see what myself and the other talented ladies on this hop have made.

Until next time,

{{{{{HUGS}}}}}, Heather

  4. I can understand your excitement at finishing something you started. Most of us have a tendency to start many projects and finish few. So proud of you!!! It is just beautiful!
