Grand Baby Shower Part 1

Good Morning, and happy Wednesday to you.  Half way through the week already. Time really does fly.  Last month (because it is August already as well), we had an incredible baby shower for my grand baby who will be arriving in this world some time in September.  We do not know if they are having a boy or girl so everything I made for the shower needed to be neutral.  I made some paper crafting items and baking items and over today and tomorrow will have all of them up here.

First off I made the shower favours.  These are sour cream containers and are easy to make once you practice.  All you need is some card stock, some glue and a paper crimper.  HERE is a link to some instructions. I used glue instead of the sticky strip as I found that easier for me but it is a little messier as it sometimes oozes out and gets on your crimper...a wet paper towel takes care of that.  Inside are treats of Wilton baby feet candy and I made sure that there were 10 in each, 2 of all 5 colours.

All 40 of the favours in the basket:

RECIPE:

Card stock and Patterned Paper ~ Recollections
Cricut ~ Elegant Edges (scalloped circle)
Circle Punch ~ EK Success
Sentiment ~ Computer generated
Stamp ~ Baby Feet borrowed from a friend
Ink ~ Studio G (yellow, purple. green)
Ribbon ~ Michaels
Crimper ~ Dollar Store

I tried something new in my baking.  In one of our day trips this Spring I had found an adorable baby bottle cookie cutter and I knew I wanted to make them for the shower but I wasn't sure how to decorate them.  I talked to our Wilton cake decorating instructor at work and she said to use royal icing and ice them that way.  I made the royal icing and my original plan was to outline and "flood" in the colour but since I ran out of time and never had a trial run the "flooding" just was not working so outlines it was.  I think they turned out cute!!  Definitely not perfect, but they all went pretty fast.

As always, thanks for coming by to visit today.  Come back tomorrow for part 2 of baby shower things.

Have a great day and happy crafting.
